Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
This policy covers the Vietcodex website and our browser extensions, including TailGrab and AnswerGap ("we", "us"). The short version: our extensions process the pages you view entirely on your device, and we never receive them. Each product also has its own privacy page with product-specific detail — see TailGrab and AnswerGap.
Our browser extensions
- Page content is processed locally. When you invoke an extension, it reads the current page in your browser to do its job (e.g. generate code, or analyze which sources an AI answer cites). This happens on your device. We never receive, store, or transmit the contents of the pages you visit.
- Local settings stay on your device. Your daily free-usage count, your Pro license key (if entered), a random device identifier, and any product settings you enter (such as your own domain and competitors in AnswerGap) are stored in your browser's local storage and are never uploaded.
License validation
The only time an extension contacts our server is to validate a Pro license. When you activate or re-check a key, the extension sends to our licensing service (operated on Cloudflare) your license key, a random device identifier (used to enforce the per-license device limit; not tied to your identity), and the product name. Nothing else is transmitted, and the free versions do not contact our licensing server.
Our website
The Vietcodex website is a static site. It uses no third-party analytics and sets no tracking cookies.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and is the data controller for your payment information. We do not see or store your card details. From a completed purchase we receive your email address and a transaction identifier, which we use to issue your license key and provide support. See Paddle's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to a product's core function.
- We do not include third-party analytics or tracking in our extensions.
Our extensions comply with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
Permissions our extensions request
- activeTab — read the current page only after you click the toolbar icon.
- scripting — inject the extension's UI into the current tab when you invoke it.
- storage — store your usage count, license key, and settings locally.
Data retention & your rights
Local data is removed when you uninstall an extension or clear its storage. License records (key, purchase email, device activations) are kept while the license is active. To request access to or deletion of your license data, email us.
